The two founders of Net Zero Compute have long understood the great inefficiencies in the data centre industry, due to the large amounts of waste heat. AI paradoxically increases our intelligence but is highly unsustainable, both from an environmental and business profitability point of view.
At first, like many others they tried to re-use the waste heat from data centres for district heating. They quickly concluded that due to the complexity of trying to integrate two different industries, the footprint to do so was greater than any resulting environmental gains. In fact, it would make more sense to use electricity for district heating than the energy from a data center!
As a result, they realised a cross-industry, purpose-built solution was required, and Net Zero Compute was born in the studio of Bell labs. Our Greenpod was built the aim from the start of efficiently transferring waste heat from the AI pod through a closed-loop thermal management system to create bioenergy. Net Zero Compute solves two problems: re-using excessive waste heat from data centres and organic waste from other industries, which would otherwise release large amounts of methane. Our partnership with NVIDIA was born from the recognition that we offer one of the only real solutions to the environmental problems of data centers, unlike many other "green solutions" which provide efficiency gains as low as 4%.
